EGO's 3000W Surge, 2000W continuous Power Station Generator can use any EGO Lithium Ion Batteries (up to 4) to give you a run-time comparable to similar gas powered generators. The PST3042 model includes two 7.5Ah batteries which can provide a run time up to 5 hours. Perfect for camping or those short power outages. EGO batteries and chargers are interchangeable with all EGO power equipment.

I live out in the country and having this power station and 4 batteries makes me feel a bit more in control when a power outage comes along. The batteries are also interchangeable with my EGO Power mower. This is a big plus for me. Also, if the batteries are unloaded from the power station, the weight isn't too much for me to handle and I'm a 73 year old woman. The manuals explained everything very clearly too.

Love this Generator. Easy to use, and super convenient. I noticed the batteries that were shipped with it were almost 3 years old. Not thrilled about that, as their life span is roughly 10 years, and these are almost 3 years old already. They're super expensive to replace at 350.00 each!

I want to run a coffee pot while camping. Would this work? Do you have to order a charger separately?

Answer:

Dauna, a good tip to abide by when looking for a generator is to add up the Total Watts to determine how much power your home is likely to use during an outage. Multiply the Total Watts x 1000 to find kilowatts. Multiply kilowatts x 1.25 to add a margin of safety and for future power needs. This is the minimum Generator Capacity required for your home.

This particular generator has a built in battery charger.

Question:

My wife and I live in a condo in south Florida. Hurricane season is soon to be upon us. We are looking for an alternative source for electricity when storms take out the power lines near us. I am very interested in your product. Having a alternative source generator in the condo without the fear of gas fumes is interesting. My concern is would you unit sustain several days of electricity. Once the batteries are exhausted is there a way to recharge without an electrical source? Are there any future considerations for a solar unit to recharge? If there is, this would be the perfect solution to our situation. Please reply

Butch, this particular generator can last up to 5 hours with two 7.5Ah batteries at 50% power load (two are included, but can charge four). This unit also has a built in charger and can charge up for four batteries. Here is a link to the 7.5Ah batteries to purchase extra.
