This Ariens Ikon X-42 inch Zero Turn is built to deliver maximum cutting performance at a very affordable price. The Hydro-Gear transmission eliminates shifting for an automotive-style drive to reach forwards speeds of 7 mph to breeze through your lawn with enough power from the Kohler 7000 series engine. A 42 inch fabricated mowing deck enhances air flow under the deck to deliver an optimal cut every time. Choose from 13 different cutting heights ranging from 1.5-4.5 to achieve the perfect height. And, never feel like you’re working again with the operator comfort features such as the plush high back seat, arm rests, and hour meter.

Kohler 7000 Series Engine: Maximum cutting power is available with the Kohler 7000 Series engine that allows you to reach up to 22 HP and 725cc to breeze through your lawn quickly.
Hydro-Gear Transmission: This Hydrostatic Hydro-Gear transmission eliminates shifting while reaching forward speeds of up to 7 mph.
42 inch Fabricated Cutting Deck: Cover lots of ground with the 42 inch fabricated cutting deck that has 4 support positions to prevent excessive deck movement for sturdy mowing. Fabricated decks also maximize air flow under the deck for an exceptional cut every time. Choose between 13 different cutting positions ranging from 1.5-4.5 inches for a perfect cut every time.

The mower was delivered by UPS freight liftgate service, Brought right to my Garage door set up was simple after uncrating about 15 minutes. I mowed my lawn the next day 3/4 of an acre with quite a few trees, it cut the time in half! and my old lawn tractor was 46".You may think that this machine is overkill for less than an acre but in FL 3 hr mowing is not a lot of fun.its easy to operate does a great job and it's reasonably quiet and extremely well built yes I would recommend this

Mower is excellent. Delivery left a lot to be desired. Semi-Trailer truck showed up with driver unable/unwilling to do more than set it on the end of my driveway at the road. I paid extra just to get it off the truck. You need to have equipment or extra help to get it off the pallet.

I like everything about the Mower, it definitely needed the mulching Kit.

Please tell Ariens to make their crates smaller so they fit on lift gates much easier for delivery. Jacks did an excellent job and the price was right.

Very Quick delivery on mower....I have access to fork truck for unloading......no issues on assembly, An annoying rattle from deck area when mower is engaged......I plan on investigating cause on my own, when time permits, Mower has very good cut quality

Review:

The order process from Mowers at Jacks was painless enough, about 3-1/2 weeks from order placement to delivery. The engine guard was damaged during shipping, but customer service had a replacement in my hands within a week.

The Ikon-X 42 was delivered March 16 2018 and so far it has been in the repair shop three times. Now if you're counting that averages once a month. This mover had only nine hours on it when something shorted out the electrical system. Since that repair, it constantly has issues with the blades disengaging then no power to start immediately afterward. The last that I heard from the repair center was; 'I don't know what to do!'

I must have received the one built on Friday afternoon. Oh! And apparently an owner cannot reach anyone at Ariens, only dealers or if you want to order parts. I'll be checking whether or not I can actually speak with the manufacturer over the phone prior to purchasing anything like this again!

I'm very much satisfied with the mower. However, I am very dissatisfied with my local UPS delivery service. The mower was received on 3/20/2018 into Atlanta. They didn't deliver it until 7 days later because they claim they didn't know how to get it off the delivery truck. It was a nightmare. I tried to contact their customer service dept., but to no avail, no help was rendered.

Good heavy duty mower. Mower does great job on the straight aways, but doesn't trim close to the curbing on left side around curbing. Front wheel too far out for good trimming ? poor design of front wheels.

Question:

What is the difference in the Ariens Ikon X-42 and the Ariens Ikon XL-42?

Answer:

Pat, Ikon X-42 has a ZT2800 Hydro driving system and 0cc pumps and 16cc wheel motors on each drive wheel. The Ikon XL-42 has a EZT Transaxles w/ 1" Axle driving system and fan cooled 10cc pumps and wheel motors on each drive wheel. The XL-42 also has a 4 1/2" deep fabricated deck which allows you to mow more easily and achieve a higher quality cut.
