Their powerful engines make cutting grass easy, they can mow for longer periods of time, and there are far more makes and models to choose from.

The two types of gas mowers are self-propelled lawn mowers and push mowers. Push mowers, like reel mowers, only move forward when you push them yourself. The benefit is that push mowers tend to be less expensive and lighter weight than a self-propelled model. If you have a lot of hills or bumpy ground, propelling the mower yourself can require a lot of physical exertion.

A self-propelled lawn mower is the best option if you have hills to tackle and you're not looking to get the workout of a lifetime mowing them. A self-propelled lawn mower will either be driven by the rear wheels or the front wheels. Rear wheel drive mowers are the better option since the rear wheels are in better contact with the ground during operation.
